My mother Irene Lewis influenced
me in showing kindness and hospitality to others. She always took my side and
was loving and encouraging, and made me feel like I could do anything I set my
mind to. She never focused on her pains and sorrows but instead devoted her
life taking care of her family and then when we were grown, she started taking
care of anyone God brought in and out of her life. My Mother left me a legacy of devoted
faith to God Since her passing, I have felt her pulling for me from Heaven. She
taught me how to love and trust God and to go to Him for all things.
Favorite memory with my
mom is when she use to take my sisters and I to Vacherie on the weekends to
hang out with our family, we would have nothing but fun for the whole weekend
we did things like have parties, cookouts, and even sleepovers at different
cousins houses.
My father Hubert Lewis Jr sacrificed
a lot in his lifetime to make his children's lives better. I adore my father he
is a strong confident man and loves his family unconditionally. I have become
the person I am today because of my father. My father taught me to respect
people no matter what. He always told
me no matter what happens to you in life pick yourself up and keep going strong
as you were. He says what don't hurt you makes you stronger.
Favorite memory with my
dad was when we were kids he use to take us to pick cans we use to have so much
fun we didn’t like picking cans but we enjoyed spending the time with my dad
going different places and eating out at different restaurants.
My grandmother Edna Williams believed in me through all of the twist and turns in my
childhood life. My Grandmothers' influence made a real difference in the way I
treat my children. My grandmother has always been there whenever I needed her.
She helped me with my home work a lot. She taught me some
arithmetic. Most of all she taught me the values. Through the years my
grandma’s belief and influence was a major part of who I am and how I
act. I try to use the same dedication that my grandma showed me with my
children so that her influences are passed to the next generation. Just
like my grandmother I never want any of my children or my children's' children
to feel as if they are alone with only one person who believes in them.
A favorite memory I have
with my grandma is when we all use to play cards for money and when me and my
sisters would be winning her money she use to get really mad with us. We really
had some good times with her.
My Sisters are a big
influence on my life. They have helped teach me right from wrong. With my
sister’s influences, I will become a great member to society. They have always
been an inspiration to me because they have set a great example for me to
follow. They have taught me many life lessons that they have so far undergone
and learned from.
I have so many memories with them but the one that always
makes me laugh is one new year’s eve it was almost 12 and we knew around that
time the people in our neighborhood were about to shoot their guns to bring in
the new year but we were supposed to be sleep, but we were making so much noise
that my grandma new we were still awake. She came in the room and were trying
to whip us we were hiding all under the bunk beds trying not to get hit, but
she fooled us and raised that bed off the floor so she could get to us. We still
laugh till this day every time someone bring that up.

I love all these pictures! I liked reading your memories with each of the people who helped raised you!

ReplyDeleteI like what you said about your favorite memory with your mother. How she took you and your sister to Vacherie to hang out with your family. You had me thinking about a time when my grandmother hazel took the whole family to West Virginia to see my great grandmother we had so much fun.
I love reading your memories of your family. It looks like you spent a lot of time of time with extended family. I love when people have strong relationships with cousins. I moved back home so my daughter would have that opportunity.
