  1. Hi there! My name is Kaylla and we are both in the same course through Walden University. However, I am in group 2. I love your quote! Partly because it is the quote that I picked myself, but also because I feel like it speaks volumes of what a great educator should look like. Early childhood educators are advocates for children because their voices is not heard at the point in which early childhood educators teach them. Therefore, if early childhood educators advocate for children and create opportunities to help them reach their full potential, then early childhood educators are creating an environment which will foster a love of learning and confidence to achieve their fullest potential. In order to create these opportunities educators must also have a desire for knowledge and an ability to use a multitude of skills and tools which will create opportunities for the children they serve. Atheta, what is you best skill or tool that you would share with us? I believe my best skill is listening in order to better understand my children and their families. What is yours? Do you have any recommendations on how to create opportunities for children within the classroom setting?

  2. Hi Atheta,
I like your post on Susan Bredekamp quote about " Children benefit most from teachers who have to skills, knowledge, and judgement to make good decisions and are given the opportunity to use them." That is so true because of the teacher know what they are teaching and help the student understand it and make learning fun.

  3. We as educators need a large skill-set to give the children the best chance at development. Not only teaching the children applying what we learned, but giving them time to apply it themselves too!
